An Update From Fastball

Greetings Everyone -

Crazy times. We hope you are all safe.
As I'm sure you've realized, our Spring and Summer tour dates have been postponed or cancelled and we'll let you know when things are re-scheduled. We're not sure when that will be just yet but we hope to be able to get out and play for you again sooner than later. In the meantime, Miles has been doing a 'Tuesday's with Miles' live Facebook stream at 7pm CST over at facebook.com/mileszunigalovesyou. Please mark it in your calendar and check it out if you can.

Yesterday was the anniversary of our debut album, 'Make Your Mama Proud'. It was originally released on April 2nd, 1996. We don't have any special plans to re-release it but encourage you to give it a listen this month in honour of it's birthday....you can find it on your favourite streaming site or maybe you still have the CD?!

And finally, we lost our friend Adam Schlesinger a couple of days ago. Adam was a co-founder of the band Fountains of Wayne and a friend of Fastball's who produced the songs 'Someday' and 'Red Light' from our 2004 album, 'Keep Your Wig On.'

Miles wrote this about Adam:

"I remember his dedication most of all.
He worked tirelessly on the music.
He was glued to the mixing desk.
We’d go to lunch or dinner and Adam would say “I’m gonna stay here, just bring me something back.”
His enthusiasm never flagged.
The last time I saw him was in New York, several years ago.
We had dinner together.
I was telling him about a song Tony and I were working on called Andrea.
It’s the story of a guy who goes to a class reunion hoping to see a girl he had a crush on way back when.
The protagonist does indeed see his beloved Andrea at the reunion but she’s now a man named Andy.
I was afraid to go through with my idea, thinking it would turn the song into a novelty song.
“Novelty songs are great!” Adam replied.
He was fearless that way, he wasn’t worried about being cool.
He was very practical and clear-eyed about the business we were in as songwriters.
He could balance the commerce AND the craft.
He was so versatile, he could write jingles, comedy bits, musicals, big radio hits, you name it.
It was all just songwriting to Adam and he was great at it.
I really hate that I’ll never get to see him again."

Stay safe everyone,
Fastball
